Dear troubled friend, you asked me for advice the other day and I spoke the truth cause from my point of view, I thought you should give in and support your better half.
Who am I to talk about a perfect marriage when I have 'failed' once? However, I have grown wiser and marriage does not only consist of understanding one person, but each other. Give your MIL a chance and help as she is an elderly and requires alot of love not only from her own children but also her in-laws. And please do not compare because to be honest, as independent as your mum is, when the time comes and she falls ill and you as the only child she depends on and requires your help, your bettter half will have to put up with it and understand. And guess what darling, you WILL need his support. So for now, treat and love your in law like you love your own mother. It's called, FAMILY. You can delete me in ur BB or FB or Twitter for all I care...It didnt bother me at all. Though I must admit that I was concern and wanted to ask how you were handling it?(I never knew you were THAT petty. I guess that explains why you kept on running away)
Whoever said handling in laws were easy?(Well, on my part it is easy) Instead of asking them to understand you? Why not you my dear friend, allow yourself to understand them? And whoever said to handle our own mothers were easy?(you know that answer yourself.)
Please think wisely dear friend and I'm sure with your high level of intelligence, you would understand what I meant by "Dont be selfish."
Loving you always, Melati.

Jika Cinta Dia
This is currently my favourite song in Indonesia and I want to share it with fans and families back home in Singapore. Great voice and I love her style of music. The vocalist reminds me a lil of Tori Amos.
Enjoy the VC!!

My 'NO' boy.
Being married to Marcell means I'm marrying him and his angel, Keenan. My relationship with Keenan are more than a 2nd mother to a son but has been more like friends. I feel that we will be able to share anything like that. Keenan, a lil child whose reading capabilities is beyond your expectations. Enjoys hitting on air of imaginary drums, following the roots of his father. A boy who has full of energy, don't most boys do at that age? Edga to me, at the age of 2 is already like the bunny in the Duracell Alkaline Ad. Energy always full lor....

Why do I call him my 'NO' angel? I have always at most times converse with Keenan in english rather than indonesian. And whenever I do that, his reply was always...'No...'. For instance, "Keenan, what do you feel like eating today?"Keenan;" No...". "Keenan, can we watch another movie instead?" Keenan:"No..." So from that moment on, I have decided to call him my 'No Boy'.

He makes me laugh with his 'acting" skills, and him singing in Batak language whom he had learned from Marcell's dad. A boy who loves Ah-Tjon:our cat and his furry soulmate. A brother of good examples towards Edga. And soon next coming week, the two will meet and will spend much given time to bond again. Its been a while for both of them.
The reason for this special entry: My 'No' boy' is turning 5 years old at midnight, and this entry is for him. A lovely, humble soul who makes you smile every day without fail.
Keenan Avalokita Kirana from Mama Rima, here's my wish to you love. Have a wonderful 5th Birthday and we will all have a blast in Singapore soon ya. Love you dear!

The Story-Teller: Almarhumah Yasmin Ahmad

I heard she was in ICU last week and my heart just sank and prayed for the better for this acclaimed Film Director. Known for her controversial films such as Rabun, Sepet, Gubra, Mukhsin and her latest before Talentime, Muallaf.
Many prayers were for her and sadly, she laid to rest on 25th July 2009.
I have been a fan of hers since Sepet and had a chance once to interview her when I hosted DEWI. Unfortunately for me, due to some budget purposes, it was only my director and the camera man that was allowed to interview her in Kuala Lumpur. And the compliments that my director told was that, she was the most humble person he has ever met. She actually dragged the director and crew to watch her movie at the cinema, which she paid for that is!
I influence Marcell to watch Gubra and he loved it to the max! And we have yet to watch Muallaf.
Never afraid to show the truth and projecting that life is just about being who you are, is why I adore her. I guess we share the same sentiments. Having the time to Direct, Write-be it for work or in her blog, is something someone as passionate as her would only do.
What more, we share the same birth date.
Yasmin you will be greatly missed by everyone.
Al-Fatihah, may Allah S.W.T bless your soul.
R.I.P Yasmin.

Manohara Odelia Pinot
A beautiful girl met her Prince Charming(Prince of Kelantan-Tengku Muhammad Fakhry) and they got married in August 2008 when she was only 16. Apparently promises were made to her family that they would be having a grand wedding in Indonesia apart from their lavish wedding in Kelantan. It was also said that she will be getting an apartment that costs ALOT. Few months back, her mom Daisy Fajarina pleaded with Indonesian Government and Commission of Human Rights to get her daughter back as she was apparently abused by the Prince, her husband. And so the news spread the whole of Indonesia and many were concern. More about her stories, please google.
Now before I proceed further, mind you what I'm about to type is from my point of view. Different people have different views of what they see and read.
So ya, she is finally back in Indonesia. Thanks to Singapore Police, American & Indonesian Embassy who have helped her in Singapore when she was there last week with the Royal family as the King of Kelantan needed medical treatments.
Seriously, I was very happy for her as I do know cases of women being treated in that manner. And what more this girl is now only 17.
Now, my perspective towards her and her mum are changing. First, she has accused the Indonesian Ambassador in Malaysia for giving a false statement to the press in Indonesia that she was doing ok Malaysia but however to her statement recently, clearly she was not. And has asked that the government should do something about this. To change a new ambassador, as he might have taken 'dirty money' from the Prince.
And then I realised that right after she returned, the next following day, she actually appeared for press conferences in a couple of tv stations. Admitting that her mom was never wrong of the accusations and that she was sexually abused by her own husband, mentally and emotionally too.
Now she clearly said that when her husband wanted to have intimate connections with her on bed, she would refuse. That is where the sexual abuse takes place. Dear Mano, seriously darling I really don't know how often the prince is asking you to do it but you are only 16 at that point of time and being married means loving your husband in bed too and not always dolling yourself up.
And her mom's statement(translated in English): " At that point, I want the best for Mano and saw that the Prince was nice and the perfect suitor for my daughter. To take care of her." Seriously woman, be honest at 16, you already know what's best for her? She parties with her friends and all of a sudden those are taken away from her. Mind you, she is not married to a normal man but to a Prince! There's a reputation to keep if u're married to a Royal family you know.
You just don't mess with these kind of people.
Promised to the public that you will be taking physical check-ups but always have excuses and tend to delay it. And your excuses are always, 'you are afraid that the doctors are paid to lie from the prince'. I am sure your people have a heart not to do that. NOT ALL OF THEM! Have faith dear.
Its a choice that you chose or was it your mum's? You are gambling with your life with all the media attention that you are asking. If you have been sexually, mentally and emotionally abused won't you feel tired and in need of love and rest when you are back and only want those around you to be there? I'm just curious that you have the energy to answer everything the next day for the public. This is just my point ya. My hats off to you if you do think that it was right to face the media and public after a long planned 'escape' that your mother's been crying and begged for help for you to come home.
Dear Mano, If you happen to google yourself and stumble upon my blog, you're a pretty girl with a big heart. Sometimes, our parents tend to push us and they think its best for us. Not that we are rude if we go against them but listen to your heart and know what's best for you and what you really want. Talk to your parents when you need to. Mano, you have the chance to go back to school and earn your own money when you start working. It is much more satisfying to earn your own money then the easy way out to marry rich. You did meet the Prince and was charmed but I don't think he's your real PRINCE CHARMING.
Dear mummy Daisy: let your child choose her way of life. She's once again only 17 now. I was just starting to work at that age and enjoying my life as a teenager with my friends.
You want to talk about Human Rights or Women Rights. Think again my dear.
Love Rima.
Once again this is my point of view. I might be wrong.

Edga's 2nd Birthday
Ok as promised to people who have been sending me emails and messages on facebook to quickly upload pictures of Edga's 2nd Birthday celebration, HERE it is. It was indeed a happy moment for us all and for him too. He refused to have his afternoon nap that day and stayed up all night till about 1am. A long day indeed for both his mummy and daddy and yet the lil pumpkin was full of energy. Where does he get all the energy? I really dont know...
Unfortunately due to work commitments, Marcell together with Keenan couldn't make it to Singapore and so I came back alone on the 8th of May and immediately headed to Giant in Tampines and bought all the necessary stuffs and groceries for me to cook. I slept at 3am after cooking Chicken Curry and after preparing the gifts for games. Seriously I was not merely tired, but also SLEEPY! I knew that I had to wake up really early to head to Chong Pang Market. Arrived at the Chalet on the 9th around noon. Thanks to Graham for booking it way ahead. Advantages of being in the Navy.
Mum helped to insert sweets in the bags to give away to kids. After that was done, Davin and myself decorated the chalet while Lil Cook tried to burst all the balloons. It was not easy to keep him away from the balloons. So my mum had a brilliant idea of taking him to the backyard and they had a one on one football match. Edga bought that plan of course.
While all that was going on, my poor mum was bullied. Edga kept kicking the ball into the drain and she had to step into the drain that was wet and kinda deep. Edga just laughed. Well, I laughed too and Davin took pix of them. Hilarious!
Liza and her daughter Tiara was the first to arrive. Knowing Edga, he was excited. Liza and my mum brought them to the nearby playground while I had last minute preparations before more guests came.
The whole night, Edga was the star. He enjoyed himself and surprising for a 2 year old, he participated well in all the games. And yes, Edga doesnt look like a 2 year old. He's more like a 3 year old. Just look at his mummy and daddy ;)
The night ended so quickly, many have gone home and Edga was still entertaining us. He really is a charmer, playing his guitar singing Rain Rain, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Burung Kakak Tua, One, Two Buckle My Shoe and the very famous that very few tend to disagree, Cari Pacar Lagi by ST 12. He's only 2. Its no big deal, really.
For Edga my love: Mummy will always shower you with love no matter what the consequences are. Will protect you, and teach you the right way of life and allow you to respect others. This is just your 2nd Birthday and yet many more to come. You have grown so fast and mummy always tear cause its seems like yesterday that I gave birth to you. Your smiles and laughters rises a great form of good energy that's surrounding you. That's how lovely you are my Son. Just be happy ya love cause this is for you.
Love,
Mummy
I would like to thank my husband for giving me the support, my mum for helping me out, Davin and his Family especially his mum(Thank you Mummy!), Liza for helping me out with the games, and families for coming including Ellis, we are still a family dear. Thank you all so much!
P.S. More of Edga's Bday pix please visit Edga's Fan Page on Facebook!
